Rev. Karen Thompson (Senior Pastor) sums up most of her theology in one word: Hope. That's
why, much to her three kids' embarrassment, she had the word
tattooed on her ankle in rainbow colors. Rev. Karen, a former
collegiate basketball player and high school basketball coach, draws
often upon her athletic career as she leads MCC
Austin. "Pastoring is much like coaching. I'm called to help
people identify their skills and passions, to help teach and train
them, to help them team up in ways that multiply their individual
talents, and to encourage and inspire." Those things are only
possible, she knows, when she steps out of the way and lets the spirit
of God move and work through her. Rev. Karen and her partner, Stacey,
live in west Austin with their son, and they are often on the road
following their daughters' college volleyball and basketball
teams. |

Rev. Dr. Bill Young (Assistant Pastor) helps the Senior
Pastor as needed, sees to it that everything runs smoothly on Sunday
morning, and makes sure that no-one takes themselves too seriously.
Rev. Bill offers the congregation a calm presence seasoned with a
wicked sense of humor. He splits his time between MCC Austin and the
Computer Science department at UT Austin, where he teaches classes in
computer security. Rev. Bill shares his life with his partner Blake, their two chihuahuas Charro and Coconut, 17 or so guineas, and a
duck named Cletus.

Alycia Erickson has a passion for helping people find their own way to
connect to God. She came to work at MCC Austin in October, 2008 as the
Director of Congregational Life. She supports the ministry leaders and
volunteers who do the work of our church, and develops the educational
and spiritual classes and groups. She's passionate about social
justice issues and was once arrested at a protest on behalf of
homeless folks in Atlanta. If she has a weekend off, you'll probably
find her camping at a state park nearby with her family. She lives in
North Austin with her partner, Judy, their three teenagers, two dogs
and a cat.

Daniel Arredondo ensures that the music at MCC Austin is uplifting and
diverse. As Minister of Music he directs our sanctuary choir and
coordinates the many ensembles and individual performers who lift
their voices in praise at our worship services and special events.
Music is a lifelong avocation for Daniel as well as his full-time
profession. He has worked as a choir director at the high school,
middle school, and elementary levels, and is currently pursuing a
graduate degree in choral conducting from Texas State University,
specializing in choral music of all genres, from classical to gospel.
Daniel is also excited to be the bass section leader for the 2010 MCC
General Conference in Acapulco, Mexico.
