Jubilant, uplifting, and diverse are some of the adjectives that
describe worship at MCC Austin. Our two Sunday morning worship
services, at 9 and 11am offer a blended worship experience, combining
several standard elements - prayer, readings from sacred texts,
preaching, congregational singing, special music and communion - but
in a varied and dynamic format. Special music is provided by our
sanctuary choir or one of our several talented musical ensembles,
soloists and instrumentalists.
H20 is the 2pm Sunday Service
A deeply personal spiritural experience with a wide variety of music. H20~Living Water allows you to be more than a spectator. Each week you'll be invited to Receive the Word, Refresh Your Spirit, and Respond to Your Encounter with the Living God. Based upon the Emerging Church model, H20~Living Water will feel familiar to those of you who enjoyed our Saturday @6:24 service, those of you who attend our Sunday morning services, and those of you who have never been quite sure that a worship experience has something to offer you.
Our weekly services feature a hopeful, inspiring, scripturally-based
message by Senior Pastor Rev. Karen Thompson. Visiting preachers of
distinction fill the pulpit in Rev. Thompson's absence.
Worship also is a wonderful way to celebrate holidays and special
occasions. Our Easter and Christmas services are a glorious
celebration of these important holidays in the Christian calendar.
Special services on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday mark these
points in the Christian calendar in appropriate and moving ways.
Every service is complemented by music. The talented members of our
music program ensure that worshipers experience a variety of sacred
music appropriate to the season or the theme of the service.
Each regular service also features the sharing of communion. At MCC
Austin, as at all MCC church worldwide, we celebrate an open
communion, which means that you don't have to be a member of our
church or of any church to participate in this celebration of God's
love.
Deacons are available at most services if you have a special concern
or would just like to spend a few moments talking to a caring and
compassionate listener. And stick around after the service for some
refreshments in our social hall. We'd love to get to know you.
Come experience worship at MCC Austin. Every service is a celebration
of praise to the gracious God who continues to bless our church and
our community.
